About MacaoOffers
MacaoOffers is a small independent dispatch covering travel, food, design and culture across the Asia-Pacific region. We publish one careful edition each month and a short list of partner offers chosen with the same discipline we'd use for our own travel plans.
How it began
The dispatch grew out of a long-running group email between friends spread across Macao, Taipei, Seoul, Penang and Sydney — swapping notes on a new bakery, a quiet ryokan, a designer worth visiting, or a market that opened for two hours on Tuesday mornings. It outgrew the email and became this.
What we publish
- The monthly dispatch — six to ten field notes, opening announcements and long reads, each tied to a real place and a real visit.
- The Saturday short — a brief Saturday email with one place, one recipe and one link from elsewhere in the region.
- The partner notes — a small section of carefully chosen offers from hotels, studios and shops we've already recommended in the editorial.
Our standards
- Visit before recommend. Every entry has been seen by the editor or a trusted contributor in the past twelve months.
- Mark sponsored items clearly. When a partner pays for placement we label it, and disclose any hospitality we've accepted.
- Say no often. A typical dispatch has fewer than ten entries, chosen from many more we considered.
- Keep tracking light. No third-party advertising on the site, minimal email analytics, no pixel tracking inside body content.
The team
MacaoOffers is run from a tiny studio in Coloane, with regular contributors in Taipei, Seoul, Bangkok, Penang, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka and Sydney. We publish in English with occasional bilingual pieces in Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
